49ers CB Carlos Rogers Hoping To Re-sign Before Free Agency

Matt Maiocco of CSN Bay Area tweets that 49ers CB Carlos Rogers would like to return to San Francisco next season. Rogers is hoping to have a deal done in the near future and hopefully before the start of free agency on March 13th.

Maiocco adds that the 49ers want him back at “the right price” so there’s still some negotiating that will have to be done between the two sides.

Rogers, 31, is coming off of a great season for the 49ers in which he far surpassed his previous totals in interceptions with six. A long-term deal seems unlikely considering the teams reluctance to pay him what he wants but he should be able to secure a multi-year contract that will allow him to remain in San Francisco.

The franchise tag could be an option if talks break down but you would have to think that’s a long-shot.
