49ers Give CB Richard Sherman $1M Signing Bonus For Play-Time Incentive He Missed Out On

According to Field Yates, the 49ers agreed to restructure veteran CB Richard Sherman‘s contract on Friday.

San Francisco specifically gave Sherman a $1 million signing bonus to account for the 90 percent play-time incentive he narrowly missed out on last season.

Sherman, 31, is a former fifth-round pick of the Seahawks back in 2011. He was entering the final of his five-year, $58.789 million contract when the Seahawks released him during the 2018 offseason.

The 49ers signed him to a three-year, $39.15 million contract. He’s entering the final year of his deal and was set to earn a base salary of $8,000,000 next season.

In 2019, Sherman appeared in 15 games and recorded 61 total tackles, two tackles for loss, three interceptions, 11 pass defenses, and scored one defensive touchdown.
