49ers Hosted DB Ladarius Gunter For Visit Thursday

49ers GM John Lynch said Friday that they brought in Panthers free agent DB Ladarius Gunter for a visit, per Matt Barrows.

Last we heard regarding Gunter, Joe Person of the Charlotte Observer reported that the Panthers were in talks to bring him back after Bashaud Breeland failed his physical.

Gunter, 26, signed on with the Packers as an undrafted free agent out of Miami back in May of 2015. He was waived last September and later claimed off of waivers by the Panthers.

Gunter is testing the open market as an unrestricted free agent.

Gunter played out the final year of a three-year, $1.58 million contract and made a base salary of $615,000 this season. However, Carolina declined to tender him a restricted offer in recent weeks and he’s now testing the open market as an unrestricted free agent.

In 2017, Gunter was active for five games, but didn’t record a statistic.
