This opens a three-week window of time for the 49ers to activate Samuel from injured reserve and add him to their 53-man roster.
Samuel sustained a broken foot back in June and was activated from their non-football injury list before being later placed on injured reserve.
Samuel, 24, was the No. 36 overall pick by the 49ers out of South Carolina in 2019. He’s entering the second year of a four-year, $7,697,356 rookie contract that includes a $3,618,076 signing bonus.
In 2019, Samuel appeared in 15 games for the 49ers and caught 57 passes for 802 yards and three touchdowns. He also had 14 rush attempts for 159 yards and another three touchdowns.
