49ers Tried Out Seven Fullbacks Following Injury To Kyle Juszczyk

Field Yates of ESPN reports that the 49ers brought in seven fullbacks for tryouts on Wednesday following the injury to Kyle Juszczyk

The full list of tryouts includes:

  1. George Aston
  2. Tommy Bohanon
  3. Michael Burton
  4. Derrick Coleman
  5. Tre Madden
  6. Ricky Ortiz
  7. Aaron Ripkowski

Juszczyk is reportedly dealing with an MCL injury and is expected to miss between 4-6 weeks. Although, one recent report did say that he could be back sooner than this timeframe.

Ripkowski, 26, is a former sixth-round pick out of Oklahoma by the Packers back in 2015. He is entering the final year of a four-year, $2,386,396 contract and set to earn a base salary of $705,000 this season when he was waived at the start of the 2018 season.

Ripkowski wound up sitting out the entire 2018 season before signing a futures contract with the Chiefs this past January only to cut him loose last month.

In 2017, Ripkowski appeared in all 16 games for Green Bay and recorded five rushing attempts for 13 yards to go along with seven receptions for 39 yards receiving and no touchdowns.

Bohanon, 29, is a former seventh-round pick of the Jets back in 2013. He spent three years in New York before he was waived at the start of the 2016 season.

Bohanon later caught on with the Jaguars for the 2017 season and has spent the past three seasons in Jacksonville before joining the Packers this past August. He was cut loose coming out of the preseason.

In 2018, Bohanon appeared in all 16 games for the Jaguars and caught six passes for 41 yards receiving and no touchdowns.

Coleman, 28, originally signed on with the Vikings as an undrafted free agent out of UCLA back in 2012. He lasted just a few months in Minnesota before signing on to the Seahawks’ practice squad during the 2012 season and returned to the team on a future/reserve contract the following year.

The Falcons signed Coleman to a one-year contract for the 2017 season and later caught on with the Cardinals last year.

In 2018, Coleman appeared in all 16 games for the Cardinals and rushed for three yards on two carries to go along with two receptions for 17 yards receiving and no touchdowns.
