Victor Butler Leaves Meeting With Eagles Without A Contract

Jeff McLane reports that free agent OLB Victor Butler left his meeting with the Eagles without a contract.

McLane adds that there’s “mutual interest” between the two sides, so there’s still a chance he could be signed at some point in the near future.

  • Jeff McLane reports that Butler is taking a physical for the Eagles today.
  • Mary Kay Cabot reports that Butler left his visit with the Browns without a contract and will now travel to meet with the Eagles.
  • Ian Rapoport reports that Butler is taking a physical for the Browns today.
  • Rapoport adds that there’s a lot of interest in Butler right now and points out that Butler also took a physical with the Saints last week.

Cleveland already has Paul Kruger and Jabaal Sheard locked into their outside linebacker positions, but Butler would provide them quality depth at the position. The Saints seem like the better fit given that they hired Rob Ryan, who coached Butler last season, and have a much bigger need at outside linebacker.

We have Butler listed as the No. 17 player in our Top 50 Free Agents list.
