Aaron Rodgers Reportedly Wants Randall Cobb Back With Packers

Trey Wingo reported earlier in the day that Aaron Rodgers returning to the Packers could hinge upon Green Bay trading for Texans WR Randall Cobb.

Jonathan Jones of CBS spoke to a source who confirmed that Rodgers absolutely wants Cobb back with the Packers. According to Jones, this all got started in motion after the Texans traded for Bears WR Anthony Miller this past weekend. Jones ultimately believes this trade “should happen.”

The Packers are making concessions with Rodgers to get him to return and one of them is clearly to take his opinion into account when making roster moves from here on.

Cobb, 30, is a former 2011 second-round pick of the Packers out of Kentucky.  After his four-year rookie contract expired in 2015, the Packers signed Cobb to a four-year, $40 million extension that ran through the 2018 season.

The Packers allowed Cobb’s contract to expire and he later signed a one-year, $5 million contract with the Cowboys. He signed with the Texans on a three-year, $27 million deal.

In 2020, Cobb appeared in 10 games for the Texans and caught 38 passes for 441 yards receiving and three touchdowns.
