AFC East Notes: Bills, Patriots, Nick Caserio

Bills

  • Bills OC Brian Daboll said it’s yet to be determined if second-round OT Cody Ford will play other positions on the offensive line or continue lining up at right tackle. (Joe Buscaglia)
  • Regarding the possibility of the Bills signing free agent WR Michael Crabtree, Marcel Louis-Jacques of ESPN reports that Buffalo does not have interest in him, given that he would likely be an “awkward fit” for them.

Nick Caserio

Patriots director of player personnel Nick Caserio said he does not have any ill feelings about not being allowed to explore the Texans’ GM opening.

I love being here, and right now we’re focused on trying to get the team ready for this season. I’m happy to be here and I love what I do on a day-to-day basis,” said Caserio, via NBC Boston.

“I’d say I’m pretty honored and privileged to be in the position I’m in…I’m fortunate and honored to work with Bill on a day to day basis and a lot of other people in this building.”

  • When asked about someday having sole responsibility for building a team, Caserio said: “I’m not really focused on the hypotheticals. I’m focused on today. Honestly, I’m focused on trying to be the best version of myself each and every day.”
  • Caserio added: “I’m certainly flattered by the Texans interest, lotta respect for the folks there, but this is where I want to be and it worked out for the best.”

Patriots

Patriots HC Bill Belichick mentioned that he expects to be more involved in the team’s defense this year.

“I think I’ll be more involved this year defensively than I was in recent years,” Belichick said, via NFL.com. “This year will a little bit more, but I’m enjoying it. Eventually, I’ll have less of a role. But for right now, jusy to try to get things underway this year, I’ll try to be as much involved as I can.
