AFC North Notes: Bengals, Browns, Steelers

Bengals

  • Bengals WR A.J. Green was sporting a walking boot on his right foot Tuesday. (Paul Dehner Jr)
  • Paul Dehner Jr reports that Green being in a boot is merely precautionary and expectations are that he will be fine.

Browns

  • Charles Robinson takes a look at three potential head coaching targets for the Browns to watch in the coming months including Patriots OC Josh McDaniels, Oklahoma HC Lincoln Riley and Clemson HC Dabo Swinney.
  • According to Albert Breer, former Browns HC Hue Jackson had grown frustrated that OC Todd Haley seemed to do his own thing and the distrust in the building was so deep that senior offensive assistant Al Saunders was seen as Jackson’s spy.
  • Breer says that one potential coaching candidate worth watching for the Browns next year is Iowa State’s Matt Campbell. Breer says that Browns GM John Dorsey is believed to have the highest respect for Campbell, who is an Ohio native.

Steelers

  • Steelers HC Mike Tomlin said QB Ben Roethlisberger suffered a fractured index finger on his left hand. However, Tomlin doesn’t anticipate this being an issue Roethlisberger in Week 9. (Ed Bouchette)
  • Jeremy Fowler of ESPN reports that Steelers CB Artie Burns was late to a team walkthrough last week, which may explain why he was replaced in the starting lineup by Coty Sensabaugh.
