Ravens

  • According to Aaron Wilson, new Ravens DC Zach Orr had an offer to become the Packers’ defensive coordinator, but elected to stay in Baltimore.
  • Ravens GM Eric DeCosta had high praise of former director of player personnel and new Chargers GM Joe Hortiz: “Great evaluator. Great consensus builder. He did a great job of leading the scouts. He’s one of my best friends,” via Jamison Hensley.
  • DeCosta said they will decide on whether to use the franchise tag on DT Justin Madubuike sometime in the coming weeks: “We’ll have all those decisions made in the coming weeks.” (Zrebiec)
  • DeCosta thinks OT Ronnie Stanley is entering a “big offseason” after missing time with injuries this season: “The OL is always going to be something that we stress here. Unfortunately Ronnie, no fault of his own, he’s had a series of injuries that have hurt his performance. I love Ronnie. He’s still a talented player. I think this is a big offseason for him.” (Zrebiec)
  • When asked if they’ll need to rebuild the receivers group, DeCosta has high expectations of Rashod Bateman and also believes in Zay Flowers: “I think Bate is going to have a great season. We got Zay. I feel really good about where we are.” (Zrebiec)
  • DeCosta said they plan to “access” the running back market and will examine how to proceed with impending free agents J.K. Dobbins and Gus Edwards. He also highlighted the fact that RB Justice Hill is still under contract: “I’m glad we have Justice on a 2-year deal. He was really one of the unsung heroes of the team won the stretch. It was a challenge this year with J.K.’s injury and with Keaton. We’ll access that market. We’ll see where things lie with Gus and J. K.” (Zrebiec)
  • DeCosta said he may travel to Florida to meet with QB Lamar Jackson to get his thoughts on the team. (Hensley)
  • Harbaugh indicated OT Morgan Moses (shoulder) is undergoing surgery and OLB Odafe Oweh (thumb) already had a procedure. (Hensley)
  • DeCosta said he met with G Kevin Zeitler on his contract situation and plans to continue discussions: “He’s been a Pro Bowler. This is his first year, but in my mind, he’s been a Pro Bowler.” (Zrebiec)
  • Tom Pelissero reported that the Ravens are hiring Jerry Rosburg in a game management role. He most recently served as interim HC for the Broncos back in 2022.
  • Pelissero later reported that the talks between Rosburg and Baltimore did not end in a deal and the team is no longer currently expected to hire him.
  • Matt Zenitz reports the Ravens are also hiring Michigan’s Doug Mallory as a defensive backs coach.

Steelers

Steelers owner Art Rooney said they aren’t “closing the door on anything” when asked about potentially trading for a quarterback.

“Well, you know, as we sit here early February, we’re not closing the door on anything,” Rooney said, via Andrew Fillipponi. “We have a lot of evaluations to go through and we’ll go through all the options and do what we need to do to be better this coming season.”
