Browns QB Baker Mayfield said that they are walking into the 2021 season with high expectations and must stay focused on their goals.
“We definitely had a lot of conversations about, you know, expectations come within our own locker room,” Mayfield said, via Baillie Burmaster of Cleveland 19. “You set your own standards. You can’t listen to the outside stuff and that’s what matters. You can feed into the good stuff or the bad and it’s all going to negatively affect you. So we have to do a good job of keeping our guys focused one day, one week at a time.”
Mayfield is excited about the Browns’ additions this offseason and thinks there is already “good chemistry going on.”
“All the moves that we’ve made to bring some of these guys in, obviously really talented people but it seems like it’s a bunch of locker room guys, good chemistry going on,” Mayfield said. “I’m excited to get this thing running.”
Ravens DL Calais Campbell said he’s not sure how much longer he will play in the NFL.
“Yes, that’s something that I’m still figuring out, I guess.,” Campbell said, via Ravens Wire. “I kind of take it one year at a time, and I know that I’ve got this year in me, for sure. I’m going to give everything I have this year, and then we’ll re-evaluate once the season ends. But it’s definitely something you think about. ‘When?’ And I used to always say when I was younger that I wanted to play 15 [years]. I didn’t realize how hard 15 was going to be; I think I was a little young. But this is 14 for me, and I know I’ve got this in me, for sure. But I still would like to play 15, so hopefully I’ve got another one. So, we’ll see.”
- According to Jim Wyatt, rookie CB Caleb Farley may not be ready for the start of training camp, but should be able to participate at some point before the season starts.
- Wyatt added he doesn’t think the team will bring back TE Delanie Walker.
- Wyatt said there will be a kicking competition between Blake Haubeil and Tucker McCann in training camp, and the team will then decide whether to sign a veteran or stick with a rookie.
