AFC Notes: Bills, Jaguars, Patriots, & Ravens

Bills

Bills Hall of Fame QB Jim Kelly mentioned that HC Rex Ryan could be out in Buffalo if the team fails to make the playoffs in 2016.

โ€œI think we need to do it. I think we have to do it,โ€ Kelly said,ย via during an appearance on theย Jim Rome Show, viaย Joe Buscaglia of WKBW. โ€œIf we donโ€™t, I think Rex is probably looking for another job, too. I think everybody knows that, including Rex.

“Weโ€™ve got a heck of a football team, but you canโ€™t win if youโ€™re not on the football field competing and playing,โ€ Kelly said. โ€œI just hope we stay healthy, because if we do, and we donโ€™t make it, thereโ€™s no excuses whatsoever.โ€

Jaguars

  • Jaguars first-round CB Jalen Ramsey (knee) was able to do someย running at OTAs on Friday, despite recently suffering a torn meniscus.

Patriots

  • Theย Patriots waived TE Michael Williams with the injury designation.ย (NFLTR)
  • Ben Volin points out thatย Williamsโ€™ injury was costly in more ways than one, considering that his salary is cut from $525k to $348k.

Ravens

Free agent WR Wes Welker was a guest coach at Ravens’ OTAs the past few days.

โ€œIt was an opportunity for him to get his feet wet,โ€ said HCย John Harbaugh, who reached out to Welker to set up the short trial, via BaltimoreRavens.com.ย โ€œHe obviously brings a lot to the table and can help our guys. He has a lot of insight with all his success and his style.โ€

Welker previously stopped by Dolphins’ practice to provide some instruction, so he’s staying busy while contemplating his future.
