AFC Notes: Broncos, Chargers, Chiefs

Broncos

  • Broncos OLB Von Miller underwent surgery Friday morning and the team was told it went well. James Palmer says there is currently no timetable for Miller to return.
  • Broncos HC Vic Fangio said of WR Courtland Sutton‘s shoulder injury: “He won’t practice today but we think he will be limited (tomorrow). He will be day to day.” (Mike Klis)
  • Regarding Broncos running backs Melvin Gordon and Phillip Lindsay, OC Pat Shurmur said: “They are outstanding runners who both deserve to be starters. I have a feeling they will both be in there, hopefully an equal amount of time. In my mind it’s a good problem to have.” (Troy Renck)
  • Shurmur admitted that first-round WR Jerry Jeudy could see a larger role in Week 1 if Sutton is out: “With regard to Jerry Jeudy, he was going to be part of the plan anyway. Let’s say that Courtland doesn’t make it for whatever reason, then the whole group has got to kind of share the load. That’s the way it has always been and always will be. These kind of things are part of our game, so they’ve got to be ready to go. We’re preparing him to play anyway, so he may just have to take a few more snaps. Other guys will fill in, as well.

Chargers

Chiefs

  • Chiefs CB Charvarius Ward suffered a broken hand during Thursday’s win over the Texans.
  • Ian Rapoport reports that Ward is slated for surgery on his broken hand, but based on the position he plays, it wouldn’t be unprecedented plays with a cast.
  • Chiefs DT Khalen Saunders dislocated his elbow during the game.
