AFC Notes: Broncos, Jets, Titans

Broncos

Nicki Jhabvala mentions that in his video conference call with Ravens reporters last week, former Broncos DE Derek Wolfe said he contemplated asking GM John Elway for a trade to Baltimore before the deadline last year.

“I had a feeling that the Broncos weren’t going to try to get me back. When a team doesn’t try to extend you during the season, it’s kind of a good sign that they’re ready to move on. My first choice was the Ravens. I actually, during the regular season was thinking, was being pushed toward the trade deadline and I wanted to come to the Ravens. So I wanted to go up and ask John Elway for the trade. I decided against it because I wanted to show my loyalty to the team that I had been with for eight years, so I decided against that.”

Jets

• ESPN’s Rich Cimini thinks the Jets will take Louisville’s Mekhi Becton at No. 11 overall in his mock of the first round. 
• Cimini believes the Jets will try and shop LB Avery Williamson, though they might not find any takers given Williamson’s salary and his torn ACL last year. 
• He also wouldn’t rule out the Jets from swinging a trade for Redskins LT Trent Williams if either the team or Williams drop their asking prices for trade/contract compensation. 
• Jets C Connor McGovern sees a window of opportunity for New York with Tom Brady out of the AFC: “Obviously, with the conference being shook up from a team standpoint, I think there’s a real opportunity to win a lot of football games and get to the playoffs every year and get pretty deep in the playoffs and, hopefully, win the Super Bowl.”

• Jordan Reid reports that La. Tech CB Amik Robertson has had virtual meetings with 19 teams including the Vikings.
