AFC Notes: Jets, Patriots, Texans



Jets HC Adam Gase told reporters that he’s not going to focus on his job security. 

“I’m gonna do what I always do, come back to work tomorrow and try to get things fixed,” Gase said. “It’s something I can’t worry about. I’ve gotta focus on getting our guys ready.


  • ESPN’s Mike Reiss notes Patriots RB Sony Michel likely needs to step things up in order to keep his starting job when RB Damien Harris returns from injured reserve this week. 
  • Reiss notes Patriots HC Bill Belichick hasn’t yet designated any practice squad players as “protected” to prevent other teams from claiming them during the week. 


Texans HC Bill O’Brien said after Sunday’s loss to the Steelers that he doesn’t think anyone on the team in panicking, despite the 0-3 start to the season. 

“I don’t think so. We have a really veteran team,” O’Brien said, via Aaron Wilson of the Houston Chronicle. “I don’t think anybody is panicking. 0-3 isn’t where we want to be. Urgency. There’s no panic. We’ve got to get over the hump here.
