AFC Notes: Jets, Patriots, Titans

Jets

Jets WR Jermaine Kearse isnโ€™t worried about the fact that heโ€™ll have to compete for his job this summer, given that heโ€™s set to earn a non-guaranteed base salary of $5 million.

โ€œCompetition is good for everything,โ€ Kearse said, via the New York Daily News. โ€œIt doesnโ€™t allow people to be content with where theyโ€™re at. Iโ€™ve dealt with competition my whole career. I was undrafted, so I thrive off competition. At the end of the day, Iโ€™m going to have to elevate my game if I want an opportunity to compete. So, I think itโ€™s great. You see the guys who compete and you see the guys who donโ€™t. Iโ€™m never going to be the person who gets upset because I got to compete. Iโ€™m down for it.

โ€œSome people donโ€™t want to compete. Some people think they should be (guaranteed a spot). But I feel the cream always rises to the top. If someoneโ€™s going to beat me, I mean, fโ€”. They did a hell of a job, because I know Iโ€™m not going to make it easy.โ€
