Alabama CB Dee Milliner Unlikely To Get Past The Lions At No. 5?

Peter King of SI.com tweets that anyone targeting Alabama CB Dee Milliner will “probably have to trade ahead of Detroit at No. 5 to get him.”

While Milliner is the consensus No. 1 cornerback in this year’s draft class, it could be a reach for him to go as high as No. 5 overall. Milliner underwent shoulder surgery recently, but is expected to participate in Combine workouts on Tuesday.

The Lions could really use an impact player in their secondary, and previous reports have indicated that Milliner is in play for them. Detroit has other areas of need as well, so it could make more sense for them to target the best available player, especially if they’re getting the impression that they will not be able to retain DE Cliff Avril.

We actually have the Lions taking Milliner at No. 5 in our 2013 NFL Mock Draft.
