Aldon Smith Out For The Preseason?

San Francisco 49ers OLBĀ Aldon Smith bruised his right hip during the team’s preseason opener against the Vikings last Friday. While it isn’t believed to be a serious injury, CSNBayArea.com writer Matt Maiocco thinks Smith could miss the entire preseason.

“Outside linebackerĀ Aldon SmithĀ might not step on the field for another exhibition game, butĀ 49ersĀ coach Jim Harbaugh suggested he’ll be ready for the team’s regular-season opener,” writes Maiocco.

However, Maiocco quoted 49ers head coach Jim Harbaugh, who thinks otherwise. “He’ll be out for some time. Maybe a week or so. But I think he’ll be back in a week, but we’ll see.”

Smith will miss Saturday’s game against the Texans and could be out for the third preseason game against Broncos. Taking what Harbaugh said in to consideration, it would seem likely that Smith could see some game action in the fourth and final preseason game on August 30th against the Chargers.
