Alex Smith To Make A “Beeline” For Arizona If Released?

ESPN’s John Clayton joined Arizona Sports 620 on Thursday and mentioned that should the 49ers release QB Alex Smith, there’s a good chance that he will make a “beeline” straight for the Cardinals.

Oh, they’re bluffing in that way because they’re trying to get trade value and in some ways, they need to get trade value because I would have to think that if he’s released, he’ll make a beeline to Arizona and compete against the 49ers two times a year for the next several years,” Clayton said, via ArizonaSports.com.

Clayton believes the Browns are the team watch in regards to a trade, due to the fact that they play in the AFC versus the same division.

San Francisco intends to shop Smith around before deciding whether or not to release him outright. The Kansas City Chiefs and the Philadelphia Eagles have also come up as speculative options for the Smith, but there’s been more talk of Cleveland having interest than the other teams.
