Arrest Warrant Issued For Aldon Smith, Facing 4 Misdemeanor Charges

TMZ Sports reports that an arrest warrant has been issued for the arrest of former Raiders LB Aldon Smith following an alleged domestic violence incident from this past weekend involving his fiancee.

Smith is reportedly facing charges of willful infliction of corporal injury, assault with force likely to produce great bodily injury, false imprisonment and vandalism, which happen to all be misdemeanors. Police are working with Smith’s legal counsel to arrange a day and time for him to turn himself into police.

On Monday, Smith checked himself into rehab with the help of his fiancee’s parents.

The Raiders announce his release from the reserve/retired list soon after.

Smith, 28, is a former first-round pick of the 49ers back in 2010. He was cut loose by the 49ers shortly after a DUI incident in 2015, even though San Francisco picked up his fifth-year option.

Smith later signed a one-year deal with the Raiders that was worth up to $8 million, which was largely incentive-based. Oakland elected to re-sign Smith to a two-year, $11.5 million contract in 2016.

The Raiders placed Smith on the reserve/suspended list a few years ago before cutting him loose Monday.

In 2015, Smith recorded 28 total tackles, 3.5 sacks, and three pass defenses over the course of nine games.
