Bears Active LB Jerrell Freeman From Exempt List, Place DT Eddie Goldman On I.R.

The Chicago Bears announced Friday that they’ve officially activated ILB Jerrell Freeman from the exempt/commissioner permission list and placed DT Eddie Goldman on injured reserve.

Freeman, 30, spent four years with the Colts before signing a three-year, $12 million contract with $6 million guaranteed back in March. He stands to make a base salary of $1 million this season and another $3.5 million in 2017.

Freeman served a four-game suspension for a performance-enhancing substances violation.

This year, Freeman has appeared in all 10 games and recorded 92 tackles, no sacks, a forced fumble and three pass defenses.

Goldman, 22, is a former second-round pick of the Bears back in 2015. He’s currently in the second year of his four-year, $5.686 million contract and stands to make base salaries of $615,000 and $705,000 over the next two years.

In 2016, Goldman appeared in six games and recorded 18 tackles, 2.5 sacks and a pass defense for the Bears.
