Bears Also Releasing OLB Willie Young

Bears GM Ryan Pace also announced at the Combine on Wednesday that they’ve informed OLB Willie Young they will terminate his contract.

This comes shortly after Pace announced that they will release QB Mike Glennon at the start of the 2018 league year.

Young, 32, is a former seventh-round pick of the Lions back in 2010. He spent four years in Detroit before signing on with the Bears in 2014.

Young was entering the final year of his three-year, $13.55 million contract that included $9 million guaranteed and set to make a base salary of $3.5 million for the 2018 season.

In 2017, Young appeared in four games for the Bears and recorded seven tackles and two sacks. Pro Football Focus has him rated as the No. 79 edge rusher out of 95 qualifying players.
