Bears Could Have A Decision Regarding Their Next HC By Tonight

Jason La Canfora tweets that he “would not be surprised” if the Bears made a decision regarding who their next head coach will be at some point today.

La Canfora adds that his “guess” is that Bruce Arians gets the job.

This comes in contrast to several reports that suggest Alouettes’ head coach Marc Trestman is favorite for the job.

—————

Vaughn McClure of the Chicago Tribune reports that Alouettes head coach Marc Trestman is the “heavy favorite” to land the Bears job.

Bears GM Phil Emery reportedly will bring in two finalists on Tuesday to interview for the job. Trestman is clearly one of their top candidates at this point, but Seahawks OC Darrell Bevell and Colts OC Bruce Arians are both in play as well.

FOX analyst Jimmy Johnson tweeted that Trestman had the job last week, but it was hard to put a lot of stock in his tweet given that Johnson doesn’t have a history of breaking news.

We should know more regarding who the next Bears’ head coach will be by the end of the day.

  1. man, i don’t want marc trestman!! He’s not an upgrade over lovie smith, so why bring him in?? I understand that you want a good offensive mind but there is a reason he has not been in the league for the past years. I will admit that I do not know much about him as a coach, so can someone tell me if he is qualified for this job? Also, what are his qualities as a coach?

    • Trestman has been praised for his quarterback development and is considered to be a very solid offensive mind. Steve Young has high praise for him being a great head coach as well. He would bring a fresh approach to the team’s offense, which is really what Phil Emery is looking for.
