Bears Could Keep First-Round WR Kevin White On PUP List To Start Season?

Ian Rapoport of NFL Media reports that Bears first-round WR Kevin White’s shin injury could sideline him for some time.

“There is no firm timetable on when Kevin will be back on the field,” Rapoport said. “At this point it is too early to tell whether he’ll play in any preseason games.”

Rapoport adds that there’s a real chance White could begin the season on the PUP list given that he hasn’t done any running on hard ground.

Chicago wound up placing White on the active/PUP list last week, which is really more of a procedural move for the Bears and won’t prevent him from playing in Week 1’s game.

However, should the Bears elect to keep him on the PUP list at the beginning of the year, it would cost him the first six games of the season.

White, 22, was the No. 7 overall selection in this year’s NFL draft and is expected to have a large role in his rookie season now that the Bears sent Brandon Marshall to the Jets.

During his two years at West Virginia, White caught 144 passes for 1,954 yards receiving and 15 touchdowns.
