Bears DC Vic Fangio Interviewing With Broncos Monday

Update:

Ian Rapoport of NFL Media is now reporting that the Dolphins did not schedule a meeting with Bears DC Vic Fangio, despite requesting a meeting and doing research.

This means that Fangio’s only interview is with the Broncos on Monday.

Ian Rapoport of NFL Media reports that Bears DC Vic Fangio is set to interview with the Broncos and Dolphins on Monday for their head-coaching vacancies.

Fangio, 60, began his NFL coaching career with the Saints back in 1986 as their linebackers coach. He has worked for several teams including the Panthers, Colts, Texans, Ravens and 49ers before he was hired by the Bears as their defensive coordinator back in 2015.

Fangio’s contract expired last year, but the Bears re-signed him to a new three-year contract.

In 2018, the Bears’ defense ranks No. 3 in yards allowed, No. 1 in points allowed, No. 1 in rushings yards allowed and No. 7 in passing yards allowed.

  1. Vic Fangio would be a smart choice as the Broncos’ HC. Elway could pair him with Gary Kubiak as the OC. And Fangio could assemble his defensive and special team staffs. Elway could have the new Orange Crush while having Kubiak there building the offense in his and Elway’s vision. It all works depending on Fangio being hired and his willingness to work with Kubiak.
