Bears Haven’t Approached Jay Cutler About Contract Extension

Chicago Bears new head coach Marc Trestman mentioned on Thursday that they have yet to discuss a contract extension with QB Jay Cutler.

“I haven’t discussed any of that with Jay or with Phil (Emery) up to this point,” Trestman said, via NFL.com.

Cutler, 29, is entering the final year of his contract and figures to receive a sizable raise, considering that he’s set to make $8.47 million for the 2013 season. There’s chance that the Bears could hold off on a contract extension for Cutler and see how he performs in Trestman’s system before starting any serious discussions.
