Bears Place Rookie WR Kevin White On PUP List, S Ryan Mundy On I.R.

The Chicago Bears announced Sunday that they’ve placed first-round WR Kevin White on the PUP list and S Ryan Mundy on season-ending injured reserve.

White was expected to miss a decent portion of the season, so it’s not surprising to see the Bears go this route with their top draft pick. White is guaranteed to miss at least six games on the PUP list.

This leaves the Bears with Adrian Amos, Brock Vereen, and Antrel Rolle as their top-three safeties for now.

White, 22, was the No. 7 overall selection in this year’s NFL draft and is expected to have a large role in his rookie season now that the Bears sent Brandon Marshall to the Jets.

During his two years at West Virginia, White caught 144 passes for 1,954 yards receiving and 15 touchdowns.

Mundy, 30, signed a two-year, $3 million contract that included $650,000 guaranteed with the Bears back in March of last year. He stands to make a base salary of $1.45 million for the 2015 season.

In 2014, Mundy appeared in all 16 games for the Bears and recorded 103 tackles, one sack, four interceptions, a fumble recovery and six pass defenses.
