Bears Release LB James Vaughters From PS, Sign DL Abdullah Anderson

The Chicago Bears announced that they’ve released LB James Vaughters from their practice squad and signed DL Abdullah Anderson to the unit.

Here’s the Bears updated practice squad:

  1. OL Alex Bars
  2. QB Tyler Bray
  3. DB Stephen Denmark
  4. LB Jonathan Harris
  5. TE Jesper Horsted
  6. WR Thomas Ives
  7. DB Michael Joseph
  8. OL Sam Mustipher
  9. RB Ryan Nall
  10. DL Abdullah Anderson

Vaughters, 26, wound up signing on with the Packers as an undrafted free agent out of Stanford back in 2015. However, he was unfortunately among the Packers roster cuts coming out of the preseason.

The Packers later signed Vaughters to their practice squad and he had brief stints with the Patriots and Chargers before signing on with the Calgary Stampeders for the 2017 season. The Bears signed Vaughters to a futures contract this January only to release him a few weeks ago and sign him to their taxi squad.

During his two seasons with the Stampeders, Vaughters recorded 50 tackles and 11 sacks over the course of 33 games.
