The Chicago Bears waived DL Jamil Merrell on Monday to make room for CB Tracy Porter, who was signed to a contract earlier in the day.
- The Bears also signed rookie WR Ify Umodu to a contract on Monday.

Merrell, 25, originally signed on with the Titans as an undrafted free agent out of Rutgers back in May of last year. However, he lasted just a week in Tennessee before he was cut loose.
Chicago would later sign him to a contract, but he was unfortunately unable to make the team’s 53-man roster coming out of the preseason. Chicago later signed him to a future/reserve contract in December of last year.
