According to Brad Biggs, the Bears brought in six free agents for tryouts on Monday including C Travis Averill, G Darrell Greene, QB Taylor Heinicke, WR Demarcus Ayers, WR Canaan Severin and WR Paul Turner.
The Texans and Lions have recently worked out Heinicke.
Heinicke, 24, wound up signing on with the Vikings as an undrafted free agent out of Old Dominion back in May of 2015. He managed to make the 53-man roster during his rookie season but wasn’t active for a single game.
The Vikings wound up placing him on the non-football injury list at the start of the 2016 season with an ankle injury, but brought him back in November. Unfortunately, the Vikings elected to waive Heinicke with an injury designation coming out of the preseason before waiving him with an injury settlement a few weeks ago.
Heinicke had a brief stint on the Patriots’ practice squad.
Heinicke has yet to appear in an NFL game.
