The Cincinnati Bengals announced Tuesday that they have claimed rookie LB Khairi Fortt off of waivers from the New Orleans Saints.
- The Bengals placed LB Sean Porter on season-ending injured reserve to make room for Fortt.
The Saints surprising waived Fortt — their 2014 fourth-round pick — on Monday, despite the fact that they used their short-term injured reserve designation on him.
New Orleans placed Fortt on injured reserve with the designation to return a few days before the start of the regular season. This move was made to clear a roster spot for veteran WR Robert Meachem.
Fortt, 22, played two years for Penn State before transferring to California last year. In 2013, he started all nine games for California totaled 64 tackles, 0.5 sack and 3.5 tackles for a loss.
