Bengals Hosted DT Danny Shelton For Visit

According to Field Yates, the Bengals brought in free agent DT Danny Shelton for a visit on Friday.

This is the first reported interest in him since the free agent market officially opened.

Shelton, 25, is a former first-round pick out of Washington by the Browns in the 2018 NFL Draft. The Patriots acquired Shelton and a 2018 fifth-round pick from the Browns in exchange for a third-round pick in 2019 last year.

Shelton played out the final year of his four-year $11.703 million rookie contract that included a $6.771 million signing bonus and made a base salary of $2,030,955 in 2018. New England declined his fifth-year option, which is why he’s testing the open market as an unrestricted free agent this offseason.

In 2018, Shelton appeared in 13 games for the Patriots and recorded 21 tackles and no sacks. Pro Football Focus has him rated as the No. 27 interior defensive lineman out of 112 qualifying players.

We have him featured in our Top 100 Available Free Agents list.
