Bengals Release DE Jamaal Anderson

The Cincinnati Bengals announced the release of DE Jamaal Anderson on Wednesday.

Anderson, 27, was taken with the No. 8 overall pick by the Atlanta Falcons back in 2007, but has been a major disappointment throughout his career in the league. There’s still a chance he could find a new team before training camp, but there has been very little interest in free agents in the past few weeks.

Cincinnati has a very deep defensive line, but Geno Atkins, Michael Johnson and Carlos Dunlap are all set to become unrestricted free agents following the 2013 season. Parting ways with Anderson will save them $2.5 million, which could be used to lock up one of these players.
