Bills Activate Rookie OLB Shaq Lawson From PUP List, Waive OT Michael Ola

The Buffalo Bills announced Friday that they’ve activated rookie OLB Shaq Lawson from the PUP list and placed OT Michael Ola on waivers.

Lawson underwent shoulder surgery a few months ago and was later placed on the PUP list to open training camp.

Lawson, 21, was taken with the No. 19 overall pick by the Bills. He signed a four-year contract worth $10,221,644 to go along with a signing bonus of $5,633,924. The contract will include a fifth-year option for the team to consider in 2019.

During his three-year college career at Clemson, Lawson recorded 123 tackles, 45.5 tackles for a loss, 20 sacks, a forced fumble and a pass defense.

Ola, 28, originally signed on with the Dolphins as an undrafted free agent out of Hampton back in 2014. He lasted just a few months in Miami before catching on with the Bears.

After stints with the Chargers, Lions and Seahawks, Ola signed on to the Giants’ practice squad at the start of the season. The Bills later signed him to their active roster towards the end of September.

In 2015, Ola appeared in 10 games for the Lions.
