Bills Not Interested In Cutting QB Tyrod Taylor, Likely To Explore Trades

Ian Rapoport reports that the Bills are not interested in cutting QB Tyrod Taylor but would like to trade him, based on the demand of quarterbacks and how much interest they expect him to generate as a trade candidate.

Two weeks ago, Taylor said that he is not interested in restructuring his contract this offseason to remain in Buffalo. (NFLTR)

Taylor added that he and his representation have yet to speak with the Bills regarding their plans, so it is clear to see that Buffalo could be looking to part ways with the veteran this offseason.

“I really haven’t had any communications as to what’s the plan moving forward,” Taylor said. “I’m sure that it’ll be communicated to me at some point, but as of right now, I’m going to continue to focus on myself mentally, physically, and get ready for another season.

Taylor, 28, is a former sixth-round pick of the Ravens back in 2011. After four years in Baltimore, Taylor signed on with the Bills for the 2015 season.

Taylor is entering the final year of a two-year, $30.5 million contract and stands to make a base salary of $10 million next season.

According to OverTheCap.com, the Bills would create $16 million in available cap space and $2,080,000 in dead money by trading him post-June 1, while they would free up $15 million in cap and create $3,080,000 by releasing him.

In 2017, Taylor has appeared in 15 games and thrown for 2,799 yards while completing 62.6 percent of his passes to go along with 14 touchdowns and four interceptions. He has also rushed for 427 yards and four touchdowns. Pro Football Focus has him rated as the No. 12 quarterback out of 40 qualifying players.
