Bills QB Tyrod Taylor Could Miss “Multiple” Games With MCL Sprain

Jason La Canfora of CBS Sports reports that the Bills could be without starting QB Tyrod Taylor for “multiple games” due to an MCL sprain.

According to La Canfora, Buffalo is preparing to start EJ Manuel this weekend against the undefeated Bengals.

This explains why the Bills signed veteran QB Josh Johnson to a contract earlier in the day.

Bills HC Rex Ryan told reporters on Monday that Taylor has been dealing with an ankle injury and hasn’t been 100 percent healthy all season.

He is beat up right now. He is sore,” Ryan said, per Mike Rodak. “We knew he would be. He hasn’t been 100 percent all season.

Taylor, 26, managed to beat out Matt Cassel, who has since been traded to the Cowboys, and EJ Manuel for the starting job during the preseason.

This season, Taylor has thrown for 1,097 yards passing while completing 70.1 percent of his passes to go along with nine touchdowns and four interceptions. Taylor has also contributed 187 yards rushing and two rushing touchdowns over the course of five games.

Pro Football Focus has him rated as the No. 8 quarterback out of 38 qualifying players.

We’ll have more regarding Taylor’s status for Week 6’s game as the news is available.
