Adam Schefter reports that the Jaguars and Ravens have agreed to a trade in principle that would send DE Calais Campbell to Baltimore for a 2020 fifth-round pick.
According to Schefter, the Ravens and Campbell will now try to finalize a contract extension.
This is now the second notable player the Jaguars have traded this offseason after they agreed to send CB A.J. Bouye to the Broncos.
Jason La Canfora of CBS Sports first reported that several Jaguars’ players were drawing trade interest around the league right now including Campbell, C Brandon Linder and G Andrew Norwell. However, La Canfora says the return for these players likely would not be great.
Campbell, 33, is a former second-round pick of the Cardinals back in 2008. He spent nine years in Arizona before signing a four-year, $60 million contract that included $30 million guaranteed with the Jaguars for the 2017 season.
Campbell stands to make a base salary of $15 million for the 2020 season.
According to OverTheCap.com, trading Campbell will free up $15 million of available cap space while creating $2.5 million in dead money.
In 2019, Campbell appeared in all 16 games for the Jaguars and recorded 56 tackles, 6.5 sacks, two forced fumbles, a recovery, a defensive touchdown and a pass defense. Pro Football Focus has him rated as the No. 2 edge defender out of 107 qualifying players.
