BREAKING: Lions Fire HC Matt Patricia & GM Bob Quinn

The Detroit Lions announced Saturday that they’ve fired HC Matt Patricia and GM Bob Quinn following the team’s disappointing loss to the Texans on Thursday.

Indications have been that changes were coming in Detroit and it was only a matter of time before Patricia and Quinn were out.

In terms of an interim head coach, Lions OC Darrell Bevell is worth watching here.

Patricia, 46, began his NFL coaching career as an offensive assistant for the Patriots back in 2004. He held a number of positions during his 14 years in New England including assistant offensive line coach, linebackers coach, and safeties coach before he was promoted to defensive coordinator in 2012.

The Lions hired Patricia as their head coach in February of 2018.

During his three years as Lions’ head coach, Patricia led the team to a record of 13-19-1 (31.4 percent) and no playoff appearances.

Quinn was hired as the Lions’ general manager for the 2016 season. He signed an extension with Detroit in 2018.

During his time with the Lions, his teams produced a record of 31-43-1 over the course of five teams. This included two playoff appearances.
