D. Orlando Ledbetter of the Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports that Falcons CB Brent Grimes has signed his franchise tender which will pay him $10.431 million for the 2012 season.
The timing of this is interesting considering that the Falcons are reportedly talking to the Eagles about a possible trade for CB Asante Samuel. There’s a chance that this was enough motivation for Grimes to sign his tender, but that’s based purely on speculation.
Having Grimes back for another season should be a huge help for their defense, as he’s been very productive for in recent years.
