Broncos Give Kicker Matt Prater A 4-Year Contract

According to the Denver Post Matt Prater  four-year contract is worth $13 million, including a $3 million signing bonus.

“I had all the confidence in the world in the Broncos and my agent,” Prater said. “I knew they had been close for a while now and that they were good on both sides. It was just working out the little details.”

Prater’s new deal, which averages $3.25 million per year, puts the kicker in the NFL’s upper crust at the position.

John Elway announced Monday via his Twitter that the Denver Broncos have agreed to terms on a four-year contract with franchised kicker Matt Prater.

“Happy to announce we have signed kicker Matt Prater to a new four-year deal,” Elway said. “This was the final piece in setting our roster for camp, and we are thrilled Matt is going to be a Bronco for a long time.”

Financial terms were not disclosed, but is expected to be worth around $3 million per season.

In 2011, Prater was 19-of-25 on field-goal attempts, with seven makes coming in either the fourth quarter or overtime in four of the Broncos eight wins.
