The Denver Broncos have placed DL Shelby Harris on injured reserve Thursday and activated TE Jake Butt from the list, according to Mike Klis.
Harris, 29, is a former seventh-round pick of the Raiders back in 2014. He was on an off of their practice squad for two years before returning to the Raiders on a one-year, exclusive rights deal.
Unfortunately, the Raiders waived Harris after the 2016 draft and he had brief stints with the Jets and Cowboys before signing a futures deal with the Broncos for the 2017 season. Denver brought Harris back last year on a one-year, $3.095 million restricted deal and signed him to a one-year deal worth up to $3.25 million this past March.
Harris will be an unrestricted free agent in 2021.
In 2020, Harris has appeared in 11 games for the Broncos and recorded 32 tackles, 2.5 sacks, a forced fumble and seven passes defended.
We have him included in our Top 50 – 2021 Free Agents list.
Butt, 25, is a former fifth-round of the Broncos back in 2017. Before he suffered an ACL injury at Michigan, Butt was considered a first-round talent and one of the best tight ends in a very deep class.
Butt signed a four-year, $2.7 million contract with the Broncos that included a $300,948 signing bonus.
In 2020, Butt has appeared in five games for the Broncos and caught two passes for five yards and no touchdowns.
