Browns A “Wild Card” For QB Geno Smith?

NFL Network’s Albert Breer is speculating where the top quarterback prospect in this year’s NFL Draft – Geno Smith – could wind up being selected next Thursday night.

Breer tweeted Monday that he believed the Cleveland Browns at No. 6 could be a “wild card” in the Smith sweepstakes.  He also adds it is tough to see where Smith could go in this year’s draft.

Assuming he falls past the first five choices means that teams like the Chiefs, Jaguars, Raiders and Eagles – all with quarterback issues to solve – would have passed on the West Virginia product.

If the Browns were to trade down, that would open the door for the Buffalo Bills at No. 8 and possibly the New York Jets at No. 9 to grab Smith.

Despite being tagged as the premier signal caller to enter the draft, Smith has received plenty of criticism from scouts. Perhaps none stronger than this scouting report published by Pro Football Weekly.
