Browns Already Doing Work On MSU QB Connor Cook

Gerry Rardin, the former head coach for Michigan State QB Connor Cook, tells CBS Sports that the Browns recently visited with him to discuss the young quarterback.

They feel like Connor is going to be one of the more important guys in the draft, for sure,” Rardin said.

Cleveland did a lot of work on 2015 quarterbacks, so it’s probably not all that surprising to hear that they’re already getting familiar with next year’s quarterback class.

CBS analyst Dane Brugler mentions that until someone proves otherwise, the Browns will “definitely be players” for a quarterback in round one next year.

Of course, there’s still a chance that former first-round pick Johnny Manziel could overtake Josh McCown for the job and prove to be worthy of his first-round draft status.

Many felt that Cook would have easily been a first-round pick had he entered the 2015 draft, but he ultimately elected to return for his senior season. As of now, Cook appears to be the consensus top quarterback in next year’s draft class. Although, that can always change, depending on how things go for him in 2015.

In 2014, Cook threw for 3,214 yards while completing 58.1 percent of his passes to go along with 24 touchdowns and eight interceptions.
