Browns “Very Open” To Trading Back, Expect Rams To Take Jared Goff

According to Jason La Canfora of CBS Sports, teams around the league seem to think the Rams will take Cal QB Jared Goff with the No. 1 overall pick.

La Canfora adds that Goff “was and is the Browns’ guy.” However, with it appearing as though he’s headed to Los Angeles, La Canfora reports that the Browns’ interest in trading back has “intensified” and the team is now “very open to move down.”

It’s worth mentioning that there have been some conflicting reports about who the Rams are really targeting at the top of the draft. Even so, there’s enough buzz about the Rams and Goff to believe that he could very well be their guy.

Assuming that the Browns aren’t as sold on Carson Wentz as many expected, it’s certainly possible that they could find a trade partner in the coming weeks and pick up some more draft picks in the process to continue their rebuild.

For what it’s worth, both Lance Zierlein and Dane Brugler previously mentioned that the Browns could consider moving back and targeting a quarterback in the second round.

Cleveland signed Robert Griffin III to a two-year contract worth $15 million and included $6.75 million guaranteed, so they may prefer to see what he can do with a fresh start and in Hue Jackson’s offense while focusing on a long-term rebuild through the draft.

One potential option for the Browns in a trade back could be MSU QB Connor Cook, as there has been a decent amount of buzz about being a popular option at the end of round one or possibly in round two.

We’ll have more regarding the Browns’ draft plans as the news is available.
