Gerald McCoy Visiting Browns On Friday

Update:

Mike Garafolo reports that free agent DT Gerald McCoy is visiting with the Browns in the next day or so.

According to Garafolo, the Panthers and Bengals are among the interested teams in McCoy.

Browns GM John Dorsey confirmed that McCoy may be in Cleveland on Friday for a visit, per Daryl Ruiter.

A league source tells Mary Kay Cabot of the Cleveland Plain Dealer that free agent DT Gerald McCoy has the Browns and Ravens on his short list of teams he’s intrigued by and among three or four teams he’s “strongly considering.”

According to Cabot, McCoy is likely to visit with the Browns at some point in the near future.

A report from earlier in the day mentioned that the Saints, Falcons, Bengals and Patriots are also among the interested teams in McCoy. However, Cabot says that the Patriots are not believed to be in the mix.

McCoy, 31, is a former first-round pick of the Buccaneers back in 2010. He was in the fifth year of his seven-year, $95.2 million contract and set to make a base salary of $13 million in 2019 when the Buccaneers released him

In 2018, McCoy appeared in 14 games for the Buccaneers and recorded 28 tackles, six sacks, and a pass defense. Pro Football Focus has him rated as the No. 28 interior defender out of 112 qualifying players.

We have him featured in our Top 50 Available Free Agents list.
