Browns Sign Third-Round Pick RB Terrance West

According to Aaron Wilson, the Browns signed third-round pick RB Terrance West Wednesday.

  • Wilson reports that West’s four-year deal is worth $2.796 million, including a $527,400 signing bonus.

West is only the third draft pick of Cleveland’s six-player class that is under contract.

Coming out of Towson University, West was a bit of a revelation during the pre-draft process.  He is a compact runner, with good vision and cut-back ability.

West will begin camp backing up presumptive starter RB Ben Tate.  Tate’s injury history is well-documented however, making it likely that the rookie will see time as the primary ball-carrier.

The new Browns front office is clearly high on West, as they traded a fourth-round and a sixth-round pick to move up in the draft to select him.

West ran for 4,854 yards on 802 carries, good for 6.1 yards per rush during his three-year career.  He added a staggering 86 touchdowns.
