Browns Worked Out Seven Including RB Charcandrick West

According to Howard Balzer, the Cleveland Browns brought in five free agents for workouts on Monday including RB Charcandrick West and LB Corey Nelson.

The full list of tryouts for the Browns includes:

  1. WR Deontez Alexander
  2. WR Marcus Tucker
  3. RB Devante Mays
  4. RB Charcandrick West
  5. CB Jalen Myrick
  6. CB Linden Stephens
  7. LB Corey Nelson

West, 27, originally signed on with the Chiefs as an undrafted free agent out of Abilene Christian back in 2014. He returned to the Chiefs on an exclusive rights contract in 2016 before agreeing to a three-year, $4.2 million contract.

West was set to make a base salary of $1.45 million for the 2018 season when the Chiefs released him. The Jets signed him to a contract in August but waived him as they trimmed their roster down to the 53-man limit.

In 2017, West appeared in 13 games for the Chiefs and rushed for 72 yards on 18 carries (4 YPC) to go along with 27 receptions for 150 yards receiving and four total touchdowns.

Nelson, 26, is a former seventh-round pick of the Broncos back in 2014. He played out the final year of his four-year, $2,268,600 contract and made a base salary of $690,000 for the 2017 season before signing one-year, $1.6 million contract with the Eagles this past March.

Unfortunately, the Eagles elected to release Nelson in a move that cleared $1 million of available cap space. The Buccaneers brought him in for a workout, but he left Tampa Bay without a deal.

He signed on with the Falcons but was cut loose last month.

In 2017, Nelson appeared in five games for the Broncos and recorded four tackles and no sacks.
