Browns Worked Out Three Players

According to Howard Balzer, the Cleveland Browns brought in three free agents for tryouts on Monday including OT Chris Durant, DB John Franklin III, and CB Josh Thornton.

Thornton, 25, wound up signing a three-year, $1.66 million contract with the Lions as an undrafted free agent out of Southern Utah back in May of last year. He was cut him loose coming out of the preseason and later signed to the Lions’ practice squad.

Thornton had a brief stint with the Ravens before joining the Texans towards the end of the season. Houston brought Thornton back on a futures contract this past January before waiving him at the start of the season.

During his senior year at Southern Utah, Thornton recorded 38 tackles, 11 pass defenses, and three interceptions over the course of 11 games.
