Former Buccaeers Gabe Carimi, Jordan Rodgers & Michael Hill Clear Waivers

Update:

Former Buccaneers OT Gabe Carimi, QB Jordan Rodgers and RB Michael Hill all cleared waivers on Tuesday and are now free agents.

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers announced the release of OT Gabe Carimi, DT Derek Landri, QB Jordan Rodgers and RB Michael Hill.

  • Brian McIntyre mentions that all of these moves combined will free up a total of $2.07 million in cap space.
  • ESPN’s Adam Caplan adds that Carimi is subject to waivers and can be claimed until 4 pm ET Tuesday.

Carimi, 25, had a $596,187 roster bonus due on March 13. He appeared in 13 games for the Buccaneers in 2013 and Pro Football Focus has his total snap count at 213 for the entire season.

There’s no question that he has been a huge bust since the Chicago Bears used a former first-round pick on him back in 2011. Chicago sent him to Tampa Bay in return for a 2014 sixth-round selection.

Landri, 30, had a $1.5 million base salary for the 2014 season, but appeared in only 8 games this past season and finished the year with nine total tackles and one sack.

Rodgers, 25, has been looking for an opportunity to secure a spot as a backup quarterback since he went undrafted out of Vanderbilt a few years ago. He’s known for being the younger brother of Packers QB Aaron Rodgers.

Hill, 24, was arrested for disorderly conduct in his hometown of St. Joseph, Mo. back in early January. He appeared in eight games this season and had nine carries for 23 yards to go along with two receptions for 23 yards.
