Buccaneers Release Veteran WR Louis Murphy

 

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers announced Saturday that they have released veteran WR Louis Murphy to make room for Solomon Patton was added off the team’s practice squad, per Greg Auman.

Murphy, 27, was taken in the fourth round of the 2009 NFL Draft by the Raiders and last three years with the team before he was traded to the Panthers in 2012.

The Buccaneers signed him to a one-year deal worth $795,000 back in March, but it looks like they wanted to move on before he salary became guaranteed.

In 2013, appeared in 14 games and totaled six receptions for 37 yards receiving and a touchdown while contributing on special teams.
